TFF: Five Things We Could Leave Behind In 2015

Hey Ladies,

It's a New Year and instead of sharing my resolutions I thought I would give you some food for thought in a Take Five Friday post. As a skincare and makeup junkie I often get asked the same questions over and over, sometimes the answers can be so simple and straight forward. So if you haven't made any resolutions yet or just want to start 2015 off with a fresh start here as some of my best beauty tips that are so straight forward but could make such a huge difference!

You know your skin better than anyone else, take notice of it and switch your skin care products to suit your needs instead of picking up something in Dunnes that is on sale that is going to sweet nothing for you. If you don't know where to start and need some advice I highly highly recommended popping into a skin care counter and having a quick chat with a beauty expert (even if your not buying!) who could help you figure out your skin type and uncover your skins needs. Makeup only looks as good as your skin underneath!

Makeup wipes do not count as a skincare routine. Don't get me wrong I have a lazy day every now and then and resort to removing my makeup with a makeup wipe, we all do it but if your relying on a makeup wipe to remove your makeup or cleanse your skin every day you need to give them up ASAP. Makeup wipes do more harm to your skin than you think, not only removing makeup but also stripping your skin of all its natural oils and hydration. Instead try turning over a new leaf and picking up something like the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water and a pack of cotton pads as just that simple change can make a huge difference to your skin and its practically the same price!

Finding that perfect foundation can be a game changer, be it the colour or the formulation. So often I see people come into a makeup counter who are wearing a foundation way too dark and leave with the perfect match, the difference it makes is unbelievable. Also, finding the right formulation for your skin is so vital, there is no use in you using a foundation for oily skin if you have dry dehydrated skin as it will only emphasis your dryness! Don't be afraid to pop into a beauty counter and ask for some advice and not to mention some samples of foundations to try!

Culling your makeup and throwing away those foundations/concealers/powders etc that are the wrong colour or skin type for you will lift such a weight off your shoulders and you can start 2015 off with a fresh makeup routine that makes you look your best yet. And I know what your thinking "why throw away all that money?!" and the answer is simple, why not give it away to a friend or if its unused donate it to a women's shelter! It will give you room to grow and a guilt free excuse to treat yourself to new products.

Book yourself in for a makeup lesson when buying your beauty bits. If you shop at a premium beauty counter why not make the most of your hard earned money before parting with it. When buying your foundation and powder etc why not ask the sales assistant to show you some tips on getting a flawless finish or a smokey eye look that you just haven't mastered yet. Most sales assistants love sharing their knowledge and are usually highly trained makeup artists so don't think for a second that your being cheeky if you ask for 10 minutes of their time as they are more than willing to give it. So next time they offer you and appointment why not take it and pick up a few tips and tricks!

Phew. That was a long one.
